Dorothy Chasse

Dorothy (Doorley) Chasse , 91, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was the devoted wife of the late John Chasse, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (Cannon) Doorley. Dottie, Ma, Mom, Grammy Dot, Grahamcracker, Grambo, Blackbird, Crow, Gert, Jake - by any name, she will be remembered for her infectious laughter and kind heart. Whether it was a new hobby, holiday shopping, a fad diet, bowling, bocce, camping, fortune telling, casino trips, Elvis, or an intense distrust of cats - her enthusiasm and vibrant spirit will be remembered and missed. Her family is fortunate to have a lifetime of memories. She embraced the challenges and achievements of her children as her own. She waited at the door every Friday for her granddaughters - a break for her children, and treasured time with her “raccoons”. She played games, shared secret recipes, marveled at the behavior of celebrities in her magazines, and made plans for the day she would win The PowerBall. She was consistent, devoted, and she taught them loyalty, humor, and the value of a well-placed one-liner or a home cooked meal. She created lifelong friendships with her neighbors, her co-workers, and her camping communities at Fort Getty in Jamestown, RI, and Campground Buena Tierra in Casa Grande, AZ. Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda Chasse and Ralph DiGiacomo, John (Jack) and Nancy Chasse, and Carol (Checker) Chasse. She was the beloved grandmother of the late Danielle Champagne, and is survived by granddaughters Lauren Pasquale (Frank), Sarah Dickinson (Jeff), Elizabeth Chasse (Steve), and Kathleen Champagne. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Lily, Clark, Liam, Maeve, and Winnie. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Jeannine Vignali and cherished nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings Mayor Joseph Doorley (Claire), Carol, Edward, and James Doorley. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Robert’s Health Centre for their kindness and genuine affection for Dorothy during her time with them, and to Kent County Hospital for the care and compassion they showed her. ”She laughed often and loved much, and left us all a little better for knowing her.”
