December 3, 2020
Our beloved Moshood Oredola, 70, of Providence, RI, passed away on December 3, 2020 after a battle with Covid-19. Moshood, son of Salawu and Oladunni Oredola, was born on June 5, 1950 in Bolgatanga, Ghana. Although, during that time and still today, his family calls Saki home--a town in Oyo State, Nigeria. He is survived by his wife Genese Oredola, his children Derina Perkins, Akina Ramos, Adeola Oredola, and Alexander Oredola as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by many other loved ones here in the United States as well as Canada, Portugal, Ghana, and Nigeria including his siblings Tesili Babalola, Sikiru Oredola, niece Tope Fatai, and nephew Lai Bello. Moshood is most known for his larger than life energy and laughter. Once he entered a room, joyful conversation and fellowship usually followed. He was a warm and deeply faithful man, rooted in Christian values and practice. His most notable church communities were Words To Life Ministries in Owings Mills, MD and Trinity Assembly of God in Johnston, RI. He is also known for working hard to provide for his family. At times working multiple jobs to make sure everyone in the family was fed, well, and able to focus on education and the other things important to them. He was also always one to share what little he had with anyone who might need it--driven by his heart and his faith every step of the way. In recent years, he was very passionate about bringing a philanthropic project to life at the Pentecost Believers Worship Centre in Sepeteri, Oyo State, Nigeria. He made two trips to the church to support much needed renovations of the building, specifically the children’s church. The trips were sponsored and supported by many generous people in Moshood’s life, including various members of Trinity Assembly of God and his relatives Dr. Ayuba Fasasi and Adebanke Agboola. He passed away just before his third trip to Nigeria to conclude this wonderful project. A celebration of his life will take place at his home church, Trinity Assembly of God at 2119 Hartford Ave, Johnston, RI on Friday December 18th at 3:30pm eastern standard time. We strongly encourage everyone to please be safe and remain at home by joining us virtually using the following link http://www.trinityri.org/trinity-worship-service/. For those who choose to attend, there is a limit of 100 people in the building due to Covid-19 restrictions. We also will be strictly following these guidelines during our time together: Wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose at all times, Remain six feet apart from others, No hugs or other forms of physical contact (we know, this one is so hard during a time like this). We hope to gather again sometime in the future when the connections and embraces we all need so much right now are possible again. A huge thank you to our dear friends at Simple Pleasures, a local gift shop, for so generously donating and arranging all of the flowers for the service. Please support amazing small businesses like this one during this time, https://simplepleasuresprovidence.com. Moshood’s final resting place will be at the beautiful Swan Point Garden Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd. in Providence, RI. He will be deeply missed by countless people all over the world. And his powerful legacy of joy and generosity will continue to be celebrated by all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
