Edith V. (Haggstrom) Wilkinson of Cranston passed away peacefully on January 28th at the Scandinavian Home surrounded by her loving family. She was 102 years old. Edith was married to the late Thomas Lawson Wilkinson for fifty-eight years. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ellen (Redlund) Haggstrom. She was the loving mother of Deborah Palazzo (Alfonse), Janet Burnham (Mark) and Peter Wilkinson (Maryjean) and also loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Matthew Palazzo (Nicole), Andrew Palazzo, Jennifer Long, Emily Krause (Jeffrey), Rachel Burnham-Parravano (Paul), Anna Misurelli (Robert), Tyler Wilkinson (Laura), and Philip Wilkinson (Marsella). Edith also was the great grandmother to eight great grandchildren: Jamie Palazzo, Christopher Palazzo, Angel Palazzo, Joseph Long, Ryan Krause, Hayden Wilkinson, Leo Misurelli, Owen Misurelli, Willow Wilkinson and the late Courtney Long. Edith was an avid gardener, homemaker, animal lover, girl scout leader, sewer and rug braider. She was an active member of the former Episcopal Church of the Messiah serving on the church vestry and in other leadership roles. It was there that Edith and Lawson formed many strong and life-long friendships. Edith enjoyed special relationships with each of her grandchildren and treasured her time with them. A summer resident of Snug Harbor for many years, Edith and Lawson enjoyed the beach and entertaining family and friends with her famous homemade Rhode Island quahaug chowder. A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday February 12th at 11 am at the Church of the Transfiguration, Broad Street, Cranston, RI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, Salt Lake City, Utah.
