Gertrude Gloria Catullo

Gertrude Gloria Catullo, age 89, passed away peacefully, at the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center on January 10, 2024, where she was surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of the late Alphonse F. Catullo whom she married in 1955 and shared 31 years together. Gloria was born and raised in Yonkers, NY; seeking a more natural environment to raise her four children, Alphonse and Gloria decided to move to a small town in CT on Lake Candlewood. When her children were grown, she moved to Hebron CT where she found joy and productivity as a senior citizen in the Hebron Senior Center. Much of her career life was spent working in the banking and travel businesses. Gloria was a loving mother and cherished grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. She leaves behind her four adult children, Angela Catullo Herdter, spouse (William Herdter), Alphonse Catullo, spouse (Susan Costa) Philip Catullo, spouse (Susan Denvir), Joanne Catullo Blake, spouse (William Blake); and her eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Herdter Smith, Meredith Herdter Bischoff, Alex Catullo, Samantha Blake, Philip John Catullo, A. J. Catullo, Anthony Blake, Joseph Catullo. She was the great grandmother to Gwen E. Bischoff, Oren B.Smith, Margot P. Bischoff and Cora H.Smith. Gloria shared many glorious days traveling and vacationing near and far with her family and friends, played Mah Jongg in the afternoons at the homes of friends and senior centers, where she won many games. Her lifetime love of reading spanned many different genres including historical fiction, spy thrillers, mysteries. Book discussions, trips to local libraries, and trading books with family and friends allowed her a rich literary life. Gloria will be remembered for her loving and practical insight, the joy she took in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her delicious stuffed mushrooms, lasagna and peanut butter cookies. She had eighty nine years of a rich and fulfilling life and will be deeply missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Lady of Mount Carmel in Yonkers, NY, in August 2024.
