In Loving Memory: Frederick Thurber Ainslie With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Frederick Thurber Ainslie, fondly known as Rick, who departed this world to begin his new journey on January 25, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Hartford, CT, Rick was the cherished son of the late Douglas and Wyoma (Stotler) Ainslie. A devoted father, Rick is survived by his son David Ainslie, his wife Claudia of North Kingstown, and a daughter, Heather Ainslie, who resides in Westerly. Rick's love and unwavering dedication to his family were the guiding principles of his life, leaving an irreplaceable void with his departure. Rick's educational journey which included a master's degree in Student Administration from Springfield College, exemplified his commitment to personal growth. His tenure at Springfield College and his doctoral work at Florida State played a pivotal role in shaping his character. In 1970, he began his career as Assistant Dean of Students at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. Rick found immense joy working with young minds, shaping future generations. In 1981 Rick transitioned to the business sector, serving as an employment manager for Digital Equipment Corporation until 1997. During this time, he met Maureen Ainslie. They shared 15 years of marriage and a lifelong friendship. Rick pursued his passion for the ocean, taking up sailing with their boat, the 'Joint Venture.' His career led him to Invensys Process Systems as a Personnel Consultant in Houston, Texas where he continued to combine his passion for helping people and recruiting the best and brightest for the Lone Star State. After retiring in 2010, Rick returned to New England to be close to his granddaughters, Ainslie Myers, Kayla Ainslie, Caylee Luebeck, and his niece Melissa Mancini. He embraced this new phase of life introducing himself to people as Grampy. If he wasn’t at the beach then he could be found in Wickford Harbor enjoying the boats coming and going. Throughout his 81 years, Rick touched the lives of many with his kindness, warmth, and steadfast support. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever treasure his memory. In this time of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to David, Claudia, Heather, and all those mourning the loss of Frederick T. Ainslie. To celebrate his life, the family will host a service in the spring. His ashes will be memorialized in Narragansett Bay, where he loved to sail, and the Scituate lighthouse, where his parents had a home. His family will also take his ashes to the National Cemetery outside of Rome, Italy, to be reunited with his father, Frederick Thurber, who he never knew but always honored.
