Domenic J. Bitto Sr.

Domenic J. Bitto Sr. passed away surrounded by peace, comfort, and his loving family. He was the devoted husband of 67 years to Manuela (Nell) Bitto, beloved father of Domenic Bitto Jr. and his wife, Jane, Cathy Jordan, and the late Michael Bitto. He was the cherished grandfather of Gregory Jordan and his wife, Stephanie, Stephanie Jordan, Domenic Bitto III, Ana Bitto, Jesse Bitto, Elizabeth Bitto, and the late Michael Bitto, as well as a beloved great-grandfather to Jaxson, Julian, Jamison, Leila, and Lena. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Domenic was fun-loving, kind, and genuinely interested in everyone he met. He enjoyed striking up conversations with everyone—from loved ones to strangers. He loved to share stories about Sicily, Mexico, and his time serving in the National Guard, and could talk with enthusiasm about just about any topic. He had a way of bringing a smile to everyone’s face. If you were to ask him what he did for a living, he would rattle off a list of jobs—everything from a shoe and furniture maker to a heavy sheet metal foreman. He loved all of his jobs, but being the owner and pizza maker at his famous restaurant, Frank’s Pizza, was by far his favorite. Dom and Nell flourished there, and even though it closed down many years ago, Dom would still make pizzas for anyone who asked. He was ever-present for his family’s needs and a major support at his son and daughter-in-law’s restaurant, Evelyn’s Drive-In in Tiverton—from seasonal openings, painting, and repairs to any big or small job that needed doing throughout the year. Domenic had a true passion for spending time with his wife, family, and friends, particularly in Mexico—always laughing, dancing, and joking around. His greatest joy was dancing with his beloved Nell and spinning others around the dance floor with laughter and delight. Some of the fondest memories the Bitto and Jordan families hold close are those on the dance floor with their Papa. His love for big band music and Frank Sinatra will echo on, as his family will continue to pay tribute to the incredible man and dancer he was. Domenic leaves behind a legacy and an extraordinary example of how to live a full life—with love, laughter, and generosity of spirit. To know him was to love him. He was a true beam of light who will continue to shine through the ones he cherished most. Services will be held Wednesday, 11/19, at 10 a.m. at Saint Barnabas Church, Portsmouth, RI 02871
