Deborah Allen

Deborah Allen (Hughes), 67, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and countless friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Deborah was the beloved daughter of the late James F. Hughes and Gloria M. (Clays) Hughes. She was the devoted wife of Robert F. Allen, with whom she shared love, companionship, and many cherished years. Above all else, Deborah's greatest joy in life was her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Danielle M. DeRosa and her late partner, Daniel J. Young; Jennifer L. DeRosa and her husband, Brian J. DeRosa; her son, Scott F. DeRosa; and her beloved grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Deborah held several meaningful positions throughout her career, including clerk typist at the Rhode Island Family Court, Call Center Representative at Ross-Simons, and Personal Care Attendant. However, her most treasured role was that of grandmother. She is also survived by her siblings, James P. Hughes; John V. Hughes and his wife, Carleen; Carol F. Devine and her late husband, Thomas; Joseph R. Hughes; and Suzanne M. Skiffington and her husband, Alan, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Deborah was a graduate of Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and Kathryn Gibbs College. She lived her life with a compassionate heart and a deep spiritual faith that guided her relationships with others. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and genuine care for everyone fortunate enough to know her. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved the color blue, treasured the symbolism of angels and butterflies, and enjoyed spending quiet moments playing color-by-number games on her phone or completing Sudoku and fill-in puzzle books. Oakland Beach always held a special place in her heart. It was where she felt most at peace and truly at home. Deborah will be remembered for her loving nature, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she freely shared with others. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service celebrating Deborah's life will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 715 Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick, RI 02889. A gathering in the church hall will immediately follow the service. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they celebrate Deborah's life, share memories, and honor her enduring legacy.
