Claire L. Jolly

Claire L. Jolly, passed away on July 10th surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old and a life long resident of Burrillville, RI. Claire was married for 70 years to the love of her life, Otis Jolly who preceded her in death on March 5, 2022. They traveled extensively and enjoyed spending their winters at their second home in Florida for over 20 years. In addition to Otis, Claire was preceded in death by her eldest son, Alan Jolly who passed on November 24, 2023. We take comfort in knowing they are all together in peace. Claire was born on August 8, 1932 in Burrillville, RI to Lucien and Viola Gautreau. She is survived by her sister Susan Smith of Warwick, RI and her children Mark (Rebecca) of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, Brian (Ronda) of Seeley Lake, MT, Christine McMurtry (David) of Palm Coast, FL and Diane Callahan (William) of Nasonville, RI A graduate of Burrillville High School in 1951, Claire held several different managerial positions throughout her career including that of Quality Assurance Manager for Polytop Corporation of North Smithfield, RI. In addition, Claire was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 88, serving as President on numerous occasions. She also participated in many town fundraisers for various charities including the Freedom Park in Harrisville, RI. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed many different sewing projects including making special “family” quilts for each of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved babysitting whenever the opportunity arose and she loved spending time with her youngest great grandchild, who was born just 2 months ago. Claire was a person of unwaivable faith. She attended mass on a regular basis and was a member of the Chorales Church Choir at St. Theresa’s Church in Nasonville, RI for 10 years. Her faith and her love of her family were the pillars of strength that she exhibited daily and was the glue that held her family together through good times and bad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Theresa Church, Nasonville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 3rd at 9:15 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 35 Dion Drive, Nasonville. Burial will be private.
