Ira “Bud” R. Chaplin, Jr., was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the age of 83 years old. He was a long-time resident of Warwick, RI. He was born in Providence, RI to Ira and Grace (Daniels) Chaplin on May 22, 1938. After graduating from Warwick Veterans Memorial HS, he enlisted in the Navy reserves in 1956; active service 1958-1960 on the Navy USS Hyman (DD-732) and was honorably discharged in 1962. He married his wife, Janet, on August 9, 1963, and together they had four children: Jeffrey, Laurie, Brian, and Jennifer. Ira worked for Narragansett Electric Company for 32 years as a mechanical foreman. He also worked at Baxter’s Liquors part-time for many years. He retired in 1993 at 53 years old to be able to travel and spend time with the love of his life. Unfortunately, Janet was taken to be with God in 1995. He enjoyed his 1939 Ford Coupe, wood working and making wood crafts for his family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and animals. He was a gentle giant “teddy bear” with a heart of gold. He is predeceased by his brother, Donald Chaplin and his beloved wife Janet (Anderson) Chaplin. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Chaplin and his wife Diane, Laurie Frei and her husband Robert, Brian Chaplin, Jennifer Gianquitti, and his adored grandchildren: Brandon, Hunter, Kyle, Jayden, Stacy, Britney, Jake, Jordon, and Kylie. Also, his animal family: Louis, Pedey, Lilley, Peanut, Gabby, and his Bailey Girl! He did not have an easy go of things in recent years due to his health, but we were able to keep his wish of remaining at home with the unimaginable selflessness and loving help and support from Fran Di Spirito, who he considered to be his daughter. His life had become a daily struggle and we believe he is truly at peace. We will miss him dearly; however, we know he is now enjoying his reunion with his beloved wife, Janet. At his request, no service will be held, and he will be cremated and buried with his wife Janet. Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
